Council tax is unfair and should be axed

The Council tax is unfair and should be axed in favour of a fairer local income tax says local Lib Dem campaigner Dave Naghi.

David, recently selected to stand for the Lib Dems for Faversham and Mid Kent constituency says:

"The Council Tax is the most unpopular tax in Britain today. Introduced by Michael Howard and made worse by Labour.

"In 1997 the tax on a band D property was £670. It is now a whopping £1,244. This is an unfair burden on those with limited incomes such as pensioners."

The Liberal Democrats want to Axe the Tax and introduce a fairer local income tax based on the ability to pay. With a local income tax set at around 3.75% most people would be better off say the Lib Dems.
